Calachica, Cádiz, Spain
Calachica, a new venue on Paseo Almirante Pascual Pery in Cádiz, blends a panoramic seaside setting with Mediterranean-Atlantic cuisine, an infinity pool, and a dedicated space for DJs and live events. For a venue that moves from serene daylight ambience to energetic night-time performances, a control system that feels invisible, autonomous, and reliable isn't optional — it's essential.

The integrator Alejandro Martínez, delivered exactly that. By building the entire control backbone around Visual Productions' CueCore3 and B-Station2, he created a system that looks effortless to the staff while running complex lighting and video workflows behind the scenes.

Designing a Seamless and Organic Atmosphere

The project started with a clear creative direction: warm, retro-inspired lighting that stays true to the natural architecture of Calachica. Instead of showy, saturated looks, the space needed elegance — smooth transitions, soft tones, and an ambience that evolves throughout the day.

To pull this off, the installation relies on full automation. Staff can shift the room from restaurant mode to poolside sunset to late-night party without needing technical training. Everything runs on top of Visual Productions' ecosystem, ensuring stability and a consistent aesthetic no matter who's at the controls.

CueCore3: The Heart of the System

At Calachica, CueCore3 drives the entire lighting system while tightly linking it to the venue's video infrastructure. Its solid-state architecture and advanced automation tools made it the perfect choice for a venue that must run smoothly even when no technician is present.

How CueCore3 is used at Calachica:
  • Manages all fixtures via DMX RDM and Art-Net
  • Automates daily schedules and startup routines
  • Syncs lighting with the video jockey system through network protocols
  • Recalls dynamic scenes and effects recorded using MA3, Resolume, and sACN
  • Ensures continuity after power resets — the stage never boots up in darkness

Programming was carried out on a grandMA3 Command Wing, with the final show stored directly inside CueCore3. This allows the team to design with their preferred tools while relying on CueCore3 for rock-solid playback.

The result: a stable, stress-free system that staff can trust, even during demanding live events.

Effortless Control for Staff and DJs

To match the venue's fast-changing activities, SeeSound designed a flexible yet straightforward control setup:
  • Tablets with a custom interface for everyday operation
  • A redundant PC over RJ45 for extra security
  • Priority handling that keeps the venue's scheduled looks intact, even when DJs jump in with their own styles
  • A B-Station2 installed in the DJ booth for quick hands-on control

Why B-Station2 shines in this project:
  • RGB-backlit buttons show system status and available options
  • DJs can trigger effects, strobes, or lighting/video scenes instantly
  • Zero training required — everything is intuitive and visual

This makes the lighting rig feel approachable for any guest DJ without compromising the venue's programmed flow.

Deep Video Integration with Resolume

Calachica's video system, based on Resolume, is tied directly into CueCore3 via OSC. SeeSound went a step further by adding thumbnails of Resolume's effects directly onto the touchscreen interface, giving operators visual feedback and making the entire video workflow effortless.

The combination of Video + Lighting under CueCore3 results in:
  • Fully synchronized looks
  • Automated shows for busy nights
  • Smooth transitions that maintain the venue's high-end atmosphere

Automation That Works All Day, Every Day

Calachica operates as a restaurant, bar, poolside lounge, and nighttime club — all within the same footprint. That variety requires a system that delivers different moods without constant oversight. Visual Productions' ecosystem proved ideal for this type of hybrid venue.

Thanks to SeeSound's design, the final solution delivers:
  • Complete automation of schedules and scenes
  • Easy operation by non-technical staff
  • High stability even through power cycles or different DJ setups
  • Unified lighting and video control, responsive and consistent
  • A visual identity that ties the entire venue together from morning to night
