Horácká Multifunctional Arena: a new benchmark for multipurpose venues
The Horácká Multifunctional Arena in Jihlava (Czech Republic), officially inaugurated in November 2025, is widely regarded as a successful project and a model for a new generation of multipurpose hockey stadiums. Designed by the CHYBIK + KRISTOF studio, the arena has quickly become a new landmark for the city. Commissioned in autumn 2025, it was put to the test immediately, with its key technologies fully challenged during a spectacular opening gala.

Technical expertise from concept to completion

MusicData, the Czech company behind the technical delivery, played a crucial role in achieving the arena's high standards and operational performance. Their involvement began in 2019, when they were asked to design and engineer the complete systems for sound, data networks, power distribution, lighting, and stage technologies. According to chief designer Stanislav Muryc, the main objective in the early project phase was to translate the architects' vision into a technically robust framework for a modern venue.

Practical design with a refined finish

MusicData contributed several of its own elements and functionalities to the project, influencing both the technical performance of the venue and the final appearance of its interiors. Company Director Tomáš Ouředníček explains that the design process focused strongly on practicality, elegance, and functionality. Drawing on more than thirty years of experience in audiovisual installations, as well as insights gained from visiting numerous European arenas during concert tours, the team was able to define the needs of visiting productions with precision, from rigging methods to connection requirements. This approach helped create the ideal conditions for a wide range of events in Jihlava.

The result is a technologically advanced arena designed to meet the demands of the most challenging international productions.

Reliable show control infrastructure

Between the lighting console and the effect lights, and other show equipment, lies a robust data infrastructure built with reliable controller and eDMX nodes from the Dutch company Visual Productions, respectively CueCore3 and RdmNodes.

RdmNodes provide reliable conversion between Art-Net and sACN protocols and DMX512, in both directions. Thanks to remote management, the nodes can be configured from the control room without any physical repatching.

This allows the lighting operator to route the required DMX universe quickly to any designated connection point in the hall, depending on the needs of the production.
